More than 750 men, women and children are walking from Sydney Harbour to Manly this weekend to raise money for kids with cancer.

The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is holding its annual scenic 26km journey this Sunday 26 March. The walk skirts the harbour and takes in some of the best spots including Bradley’s Head, Balmoral Esplanade, Clontarf Reserve, Sydney Harbour National Park and finishes at Manly Beach.

The Walk for Kids with Cancer was started by the late Bob ‘Tug’ Wilson. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer and decided to do something for the ‘young ones’.

His mantra: “I’ve lived a good life, theirs is just beginning”, rings true for many of the participants in the walk.

This year, the fundraising target is $300,000 that goes to the Cancer Centre for Children and almost 100 walking teams have signed up.
